Humans don’t come with an instruction manual.

While each person is unique, we have many similarities as a species.

  • We crave connection and understanding but do not always have the tools to create and maintain relationships that are healthy and fulfilling.

  • We want to live a happy life but we don’t always make choices that prioritize our own long term happiness and well-being.

  • We try to work toward building a better future for ourselves but negative thought patterns and traumatic experiences keep us stuck reliving the past.

That’s where counseling comes in

Counseling isn’t just for “broken” or “damaged” people. It is for everyone who has had the experience of living life in a world that can be chaotic, stressful, and overwhelming.

Counseling can assist you in processing this experience. It can help you orient yourself in a positive direction, making you more resilient and better prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.

My approach to therapy

I provide a space where you can develop the tools needed for daily functioning, creating and maintaining healthy relationships, processing experiences, as well as discovering and accepting yourself.

I have two beliefs about counseling that help demonstrate my approach to therapy:

  1. Every person’s story and perspective is unique and nuanced. In order to help as a counselor, I need to understand how you look at the world, what your goals are, and what meaning and connection look like to you. It is about what you want out of counseling and how you process and internalize information.

  2. The combined work between client and counselor is where the magic happens. I want to work with you on what’s important to you. As a counselor, I do not want to just be a blank wall for a client to talk to. However, I also do not want to take away a client’s autonomy by directing their actions. It’s a balance that we discover together.
